Fun day!

Yesterday hubby and I headed out for a quick hamburger lunch, but instead ended up at my favorite Mexican restaurant around town-Paula's. I had my best ever salad-chicken avocado with blue cheese dressing. It also has cucumbers, dried tomatoes, lettuce, red cabbage and spinach to make it so yummy. And it has less calories (I think) than a hamburger with fries.

The view out the restaurant window of the red rock cliffs nearby with blooming oleander bushes made the lunch so fun even though it was hot outside-98 degrees at noon. I love where we live and it's warmth in winter. In summer, I'm ready to head north; but from about Oct to May, it's ideal weather here.

We're talking about perhaps taking a cruise to Alaska for my 70th birthday present-now that sounds cool in many different ways. I've never been there and neither has my husband-it's the only state he hasn't been to in the entire 50 states. Now that's some kind of record! From an early age, he accompanied his mom and maternal grandmother every summer touring all 48 USA states during summer vacations for years.

We went to Hawaii a few years ago so it has to be ALASKA this year. I also have a new daughter-in-law that served a mission in that state. We'll see what develops...we've never been on a cruise and would need to drive or fly to Seattle to connect with a cruise ship probably in August when it's really hot here.

  1. We loved the Alaska Cruise. It's the only cruise we've been on, We were with Jill, Corey and Isaac at age 18 months, so we had built in entertainment, but we really liked the shore excursions. If you go, do sign up for an extra excursion somewhere. WE took a helicopter ride and landed on a gracier. It was Awesome!
Your lunch does look good, but unfortunately for me, so does your husbands!

  2. I agree with Linda, your lunch looks good but knowing me I'd go with your husband's. Being Texan I love Mexican food.

An Alaskan cruise sounds wonderful with the right people. I suspect Bob would walk like a caged lion the entire trip.

I'm hoping for a splendid experience all the way around.

  6. I agree... sounds lie it was a fun day. That salad looked wonderful. I like salads that have lots of ingredients -- the unexpected flavours and variety makes it so much fun to eat.
