Driving to Enterprise for Branch BBQ

It was 105 degrees today so a good day for an air-conditioned drive to Enterprise to enjoy a Branch BBQ of chicken, fresh corn, salads and desserts and visiting with Church members....

Love our red rock mountains and cliffs in our desert landscape

Not a lot of traffic on the road back through Gunlock

Enterprise is about 30 miles north of St. George and cooler

Honoring our outgoing Branch Presidency with a program

Still 100 degrees as we return to hot St. George

This the high desert landscape and climate

Getting out of the House...

Off for a drive to nearby Hurricane, Utah for a FARMER'S MARKET and lunch at our favorite Mexican restaurant. Note the monsoon clouds trying to form to bring us needed rain and also unneeded flooding.

Pine Valley mountains in the background

Sand Hollow Reservoir

Been working like CRAZY on rearranging stuff in our house. Moved Allen's computer and stuff to his new MANCAVE-which he loves-now his archery stuff, etc. is all in one place. And I have the computer room all to myself as my OFFICE! So I can gather all my family history files, journals, photos in one place. No small task with 60 years of genealogical research, etc...

Before Allen's computer and stuff now moved to his ManCave.

After the move, my extra work corner/bookcase.

Reliving the PAST

One of my goals this SUMMER is to exam my OLD JOURNALS and PHOTOS which is quite interesting. To see the GROWTH I've made and the MISTAKES I can still learn from. Sometimes I smile at the fun handmade Mother's Day cards from my young sons. Other times I cry reliving the difficult teenage rebellion years and marital conflicts that resulted in DIVORCE. I long for my fun  dancing days at BYU in the 1960s, but wouldn't go back through all that happened in my life since then-other than to learn and see God's hand always guiding me along. Found these photos onlin-BYU Banyan yearbooks 1961-2.

That's me top row 3rd from left in Orchesis-modern dance group

Interntl. Folk Dancers (me in 3rd row 3rd from left in center)

Me in front row 4th from left, 1st husband back row on left

Folk Dancers-Polish costumes, I'm in 3rd row, 3rd from right

I majored in Dance though it was called Physical Education (Dance Emphasis). Got my BS and MA degrees in dance then taught ballet, folk, social and modern dance in colleges for 10 years at BYU, Wisconsin State Univ, Wisconsin-Madison, Cal State Univ-Fullerton. Those were the DAYS!

AUGUST is here

And the monsoons have come cooling off our temperatures but increasing the humidity. But it also means we have survived more than half of SUMMER'S HEAT. Hooray, I'm making progress on my piles of folders of stuff and genealogy research. I'm amazed by all the work that took place. Trying to organize a WRITING WORDSHOP class for August for women in my area who want to explore Creative Journaling, Finding Your Voice, Silencing your Critic and other topics related to self talk, writing and personal growth. We'll meet on Wednesdays at 10am at my house. Let me know if you are interested in attending-it's free.
