Dealing with disappointments

Why is something a disappointment?
Because we have different expectations
Than what happens to us?
Maybe it’s like the Grimm’s fairy tale
Where the Golden Goose became what
Everyone wanted because it laid golden eggs

What if all our expectations were met
Would we then be bored with life?
Running around stuck to a golden goose
Without challenges or opportunities
To grow and develop, selfish to the core
Would we just be greedy children?

  1. Great insights! Yes! We would be greedy children. I'm already a greedy child.

When it's winter, I think it's too cold and I want the sun to shine. In the summer when the sun is shining, it's too hot and I want it to cool off. When the lillies are blooming, I miss the delpheniuims, when the delpheniums are blooming I can't wait for the lillies. When we take a short trip, I miss the Hollow. When we're at the Hollow, I want to take a short trip.

What is it with not being able to stop, breathe, and be satisfied with just what we have and just where we are. I have so much!! And where I am is so beautiful!!

  3. My husband and I used to buy lottery tickets every 6 months or so in Chicago. Then we'd talk about what we'd do with it. We always ended up saying it wouldn't be good to win because then our children would have nothing to strive for, nothing to appreciate. It's the journey, the striving, that's most rewarding.
