Carlsbad Caverns

Never been here before, it's located in south-east corner of New Mexico next to Texas. An amazing place, though I'm been to Lehman's caves in Nevada and Timpanogos Cave in Utah, Carlsbad is huge in comparison. We only went on one guided tour but saw lots of formations in huge rooms. Then they turned off the lights and it was so dark. Amazing tour!

  1. Looks like fun. It's on my list of nearby places to see when hubby retires full time.

  3. I went to Carlsbad as a young girl. It was beautiful... but, it spooked the heck out of me when they turned out the lights. That's darkness that penetrates to the core. I could FEEL how black it was. Truthfully, I haven't liked being in caves since then. I've been to Timp Caves a few times. It seems to be a requirement for BYU students and women who marry men from Pleasant Grove, Utah... I still didn't like it when they turned out the lights.
ugh, shudder... I'll just plant my feet somewhere in sunlight and look at your lovely pictures and call it good.

  6. My dad's View Master from the 1940s had images of the Caverns. Always seemed like another planet to me. You brought back memories.

  8. Caves are amazing places. To think of the forces of nature that created them, and the wonders hidden below the surface of our earth.

  10. There's one marvelous but infamous cave I know that would make your eyes gaze with wonders. I think it is located at Palawan, Philippines?
