CELEBRATION
Our palm tree
looks dead
after the bitter
cold of winter,
dried fronds
drape low.
Then
a green shoot
springs forth,
up from the center
shouting:
life,
recovery
from
sudden death.
New branches appear
rising to greet
warmer air,
in time
to celebrate
another summer.
