Why are we here?

Thought it's time to get more comments and ideas from my readers or perhaps I'm running low on ideas? No-that would never happen but I do blog daily. So here's a question for today and I hope to get lots of different unique ideas because you all are each individuals. What motivates you to keep going despite obstacles and problems that seem to arise in each of our lives. So tell me what you believe or don't believe about life's purpose. If you don't have an answer try goggling it. See OPRAH!

Part of my meditative practice is doing Taoist Tai Chi, but since moving from the dry west to the humid east, I discovered I have osteo-arthritis. Sometimes when it flares up, I just don't feel like doing TC, but I force myself to, because if I don't do it regularly, it will leave my right brain, and I'll lose the body memory of it. I have promised myself to do it at least once a week, and that committment keeps me going, knowing that when the flare up is over, I'll still remember how to do it. That process has become a kind of example for me for other areas of my life. Committment is what keeps you going when everything else doesn't want to.

I guess because I'm the eternal optimist I somehow manage to find joy and laughter in every day -- in spite of the downers like bad knees and back. I don't have grandchildren, but you don't miss what you've never had. But I do have four incredible kids, marvelous friends and an interest in just about everything. Not to say there's never a down day because, of course, there is, but there is more good ones than bad. Interesting post and topic, Lin.

I know my life is richer if I keep myself moving forward. No one can do this for me; my happiness depends upon ME. I've always been the curious sort, and I have a lot of interests and hobbies. With all of this, I look forward to each new day.

No answers to your questions, because I feel that I have really messed up my life by making some stupid decisions. No one's fault but mine. I'm very depressed. What keeps me going is that if I keep trying...I think I can make things better. I hope.

That life will get better eventually:) I try to remain an optimist. I keep going because we are supposed to --that's life!

Lin,i really thought about it...life is a continuous process of changes..as a kid love and care of my parents and my protectiveness towards my siblings kept me going, mine was a very remote area not so good school as my dad chose (an engineer) to serve on those hard areas where others refused..but i was lucky to have very good teachers and they kept me going in pursuing my academical goals, later at college my family and friends, teachers all kept me going...since i met Chandan ,he has been a great influence in my life, now my kids they keep me going.Someday when i am little free of my certain duties i want to work for poorer community(i still do in my own little ways).
A harmony between our family, society, nature and environment and above all GODS blessing keeps this whole world going.

There is beauty in everything. it is usually found in small things while we try to find it in big things. My purpose in life is the find more beauty in small things and feel complete with that beauty. Learning new things what keeps me going, learning to love more be more humble and vulnerable. No matter what, I am loved and I have so much love to give. Knowing that pulls me out of difficult times. I am a true believer of goodness in anything even the ugliest situation may have beauty or may cause a beautiful out come, it is just how you look at it.we are all the same, just in different form. forgiveness is the key to all beauty, forgiving others, and forgiving ones self, which is hardest to do but doable never the less.

thanks mom this was nice...

Like Sylvia, I'm the eternal optimist but, I keep going because I refuse to stay in a place or situation that is not good, productive, or worthwhile. I keep striving because I know if I do, something HAS to change, prayerfully for the better.

I don't believe in the concept of "life's purpose". I don't consider the meaning of life. We're here because we were born. Our purpose is to live our life. That means we begin again each day, making it the best we can for ourselves and those around us.

I keep going because I am a role model for my daughter...You never know what you are made of until the going gets tough...
