Twice a year in April and October, my church (the Mormons or our more official name The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) meets for a world conference (the 180th) where our leaders including the prophet Thomas S. Monson and his twelve apostles speak to us. The talks are broadcast over TV and on the Internet. It's also translated into about 90 languages so it is distributed around the world.
Listening to conference on the tv without a picture, I 've been able to work for many hours on my latest writing project-Family Home Evenings for Empty Nesters and Singles. I've been gathering materials for it for many years, now I have to organize it within the next month or so and send my "finished manuscript" to a publisher Covenant Books in American Fork. This is a FIRST for me, as I presented the project idea to an editor at my last writer's conference in September, and he was interested. In an email he said...."I'm looking forward to reading your book." Me too! Lol!
Back to conference, many good talks mostly about families and self improvement. "Need to slow down and simplify our lives, use the gift of time and agency to improve ourselves, our families and the world." Big TASK! We just dedicated a temple in the Ukraine. Five new temples were announced today in Portugal, the Phillipines, Connecticut, Indiana and Tijuana, Mexico. The church is growing.
