I DID IT! 500 piece zigsaw puzzle

As a child I loved to put together jigsaw puzzles with my Grandma Vernon-my dad's mom who babysat me after my mom started to work after the tragic death of my dad in an airplane accident when I was five years old. I loved that quiet time with my grandma during our visits together with the pieces all sorted out on a card table so it wouldn't be disturbed when we wanted to eat meals.

First we would look for the straight sided pieces and put them together to make the outline of the puzzle. Later this became a guide as we looked at the top of the puzzle box at the finished picture. It was a fun project that could take as much or as little time as you wanted. And was always waiting for us between visits.

Nowadays few grandchildren are interested in puzzles as they have so many electronic and computer games that take up their time. But it was a real sense of accomplishment as I recently took the time each day to work on an unused corner of our dining table to put together a 500 PIECE PUZZLE. My largest ever.

I have simpler ones here for grandkids and I think the biggest I've done is 250 pieces. That I did last with my son Daniel when he was here for short visit and the two of us enjoyed working late into the night talking and puzzling until it was completed. When is the last time you took the time to put together a puzzle?

Fun FAMILY VISIT

It's been since last MOTHER'S DAY since I've seen my grand daughter EMILEE, her husband DANY and my great grand daughter GABBY who is now 1 year old and about 3 months old. She is a live wire and fun to watch run, dance and explore her world. We visited the Children's Museum and played lots.

Eating Peruvian food, of course is fun-chicken, rice, etc. etc.

Checking out every nook and corner that she could...

Checking out the Children's Museum, she likes to drive

Here we are all ready to go to Church together today

Check out those fancy dresses shoes!

Celebrating National POETRY Month

Our DIXIE POETS group participated in a joint reading last night with poetry students from Dixie State University in our St. George Public Library. It was so fun after several years of not doing it because of Covid. This was our third year to join partners with the local college poets under Dr. Cindy King's direction. We love poetry...come join our group if you live close by: 1st and 3rd Tuesdays for 1:30-3:30 pm at our Active Life Center in St George 250 N 200 W. Leave a comment if you want further info.

Here's a poem I read comparing poetry to performing or dancing on stage...

Allen's BIRTHDAY today

Today is my husband Allen's birthday #78. He's just a youngster but much appreciated after 28 soon 29 years of marriage. He's had a full life being raised in Gatesville Texas then after attending University of Texas-Austin and graduating in Civil Engineering, he worked for the Forest Service all over. I helped him write his life story and gathered all these photos. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

New CALLING-Relief Society HISTORIAN

Working diligently to gather HISTORICAL information on our SUNRIVER BRANCH's history to put together two BULLETIN BOARDS for the church. It all began in 2000 when a Branch was created and a Branch President called in the new Sunriver development. A year later a ground breaking was held to BUILD A CHAPEL in our community. During the meantime we met in a neighboring Bloomington Hills building until our new chapel was BUILT AND DEDICATED on Sept 11, 2002. Now this year we will be celebrating its 20th anniversary! Fun but lots of WORK!

From yearly histories & old photos I reconstructed our branch history

Getting to Know You will introduce our RS leaders with short bio.

April Field Trip

Took a 15 minute car trip to a nearby new historical park and loved taking photos of the HELA SEEGMILLER FARM. See https://www.sgcity.org/cityparks/helaseegmillerhistoricalfarm

Lots of old farm equipment to see

Love old wagons, they have built a barn too for picnicking

Farm animals to see: donkeys, cows, horses, goats and chickens

Pioneer rock house and fun sculpture of two boys

Some more modern farm equipment that used engines

Love the old fashioned wagons and rebuilt barn for picnics

It's a goat that could be milked for goat's milk

None of the buildings are opened just to look at

A billy goat you don't want to try to milk him...

Nice picnic area  or family reunion has bbq and restrooms
