POETRY still lives...

So what do poets do during a pandemic?

Write poems about it!

The St. George Festival of Literary Arts just published a volume of poetry written by local poets.

Journaling or talking with a friend or spouse about your experiences this past year can bring healing to you.

Try it, we all need healing as the challenge continues.

Here's one of my poems I submitted:

WHY? by lin floyd

hope as elusive as a new butterfly
here for an instant then out of sight

longing for the peace and calmness
that nature brings to chaotic times

yearning for comfort within
as commotion builds everyday

can I cocoon myself and wait for
new beginnings to fly away in peace

To VACCINATE or NOT?

Well, they just released the Covid-19 vaccinations in our area for those 70+. So, we needed to make the decision whether to participate or not. We never get flu shots, but this Covid flu is different and more dangerous especially for older people. So, we had a decision to make. Stay socially isolated forever it seems or get the immunization shots and feel more secure in traveling and visiting with others. After 11 months of careful isolation mostly with rare trips out for groceries, doctor appointments and occasional out to dinner dates with hubby, the decision was to GO FOR IT! It helped today to see our Church's 96 year old prophet Pres. Nelson getting his shot. Then the opportunity came to get an appointment at our local hospital. So WE DID IT!

Luckily it was a sunny warm day to park and walk to the hospital

They were quite organized and everyone in line had an appt.

We got our shots in the tents after being checked in online

Here we are both smiling. Next shot on Feb 10, 2021!

Gabriella is here...

Born at 4:30 am yesterday, my first GREAT grandchild. So happy for her parents Emilee and Daniel. My grand daughter Emilee begins a new journey as a mother, as does her husband as a father, and both sets of parents have their first grandchild: Gabriella. Here's a name plaque I made for her nursery room at home. Her father is Daniel from Peru, thus the two flags on her plaque. CONGRATS to all!

Sorry-no photos on social media as her parents have requested, but she is so sweet, fresh and new with lots of dark hair, 20 inches long and 7 pounds. Welcome to LIFE! Here's a photo of my blooming Amaryllus bulb that was a present from a dear friend at Christmastime and now is adding beauty to our days.

RING OUT WILD BELLS!

My favorite New Year's hymn is "Ring Out Wild Bells" which seems so appropriate for this new year 2021. Time to begin over, change our song and actions to reflect new beginnings, hope and prayers for a better year starting with our own changes in behavior to become more CHRISTLIKE in demeanor-more forgiving, more kind and patient, praying for peace and healing in our land.
