Oregon photos

Bridge to Newport, Oregon

Above view from Cape Foul Weather, Oregon above Newport. Below-My husband Allen loves to look at boats and dream about having one of his own someday. He plans to build it. Most of our Oregon vacation mornings were foggy but generally cleared up and were sunny later.

One day it rained so we headed inland for an adventure after a tasty breakfast cooked on an electric grill!
Here's a poem I wrote about the day we four enjoyed:

SERENDIPITY

A day in the rain together,
too wet for the beach unfortunately.
So we head inland looking for sun:
the quest for "wild abandon" and
new adventures awaits us.

Berry picking by the Oregon roadside
sweet succulent and ready to eat.
Yours for the taking, just stop
but pick carefully to avoid the thorns
that hide beneath prickly leaves.
Growing wildly in ditches near
rambling streams from frequent rains,
creating lush canyons and meadows.

Inland, we find blue skies
cozy farms and productive fields
peaceful scenery, time for repose.
Too soon its time to return to the coast
after a cool picnic in the rain
sheltered by a park cotillion.
Eating our homemade snacks,
laughing at the weather because
we are together.

Back at the coast, the sun is out.
Scrambling over sand dunes,
we search for agates on the beach
then it's on to a lighthouse
perched high above the coastline
signaling to seagoers their position
and warning them of rocky shores.

Too soon we're back at our cottage
having spent a fun filled day
in Oregon exploring, despite
the rainy weather that came.
