Examining self talk

How come we aren’t our own best cheerleader
Why don’t the chants we hear inside say
“You can do it, just try a little harder”
Instead of “Dummy, you can’t do that,
Don’t even try, you’ll just fail again.”

Maybe it comes down to taking control
Of that inner voice and disciplining it
To reflect what we really want in our life
Encouragement, acceptance and support

We wouldn’t treat our best friends
Like we treat ourselves, doesn’t the
Golden rule say…”do onto others as you would
Do onto yourself”?
