Rocky Roads

Impressions float before our eyes,
everyone is happier than we are
more content, and better off.
But when the blinders come down,
we discover we all have
our own bumpy roads to travel.
Some are better at hiding their distress.

Envy gets us nowhere, but more
gratitude opens us to blessings.
Opportunities hopefully await us
just around the next bend.
As our Father watches our progress,
He knows before hand which trials
are needed in our lives and when.

  7. I remember a few years ago thinking that my brother and sister-in-law had the "Norman Rockwell" life and being just a tad envious of them.

After spending several gut wrenching hours sharing secret heartaches with my sister-in-law I was amazed at how much she envied my life... and what good reason she had to wish for much of what I was blessed with. It was a "Whew. glad I'm not her" moment that brought me to my knees to give thanks for the home, husband, children, and health that were/are mine to enjoy.

    Another great insight, my friend.
