Coral Pink Sand Dunes near Kanab

Never been here before because it's off the beaten track-the main highway but we were always going somewhere else. Last weekend we stayed two nights in Kanab for a writer's conference and had extra time to explore.

This is a state park and encourages ATV riders to explore the sand dunes

Desert beauty every where
Tracks in the sand...
lots of different plants grow in this area
not easy to walk in the sand but good exercise

Fun WEEKEND AWAY

Hubby and I finally got out of the house and traveled to Kanab for a Writers Workshop and sightseeing at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. Our first visit there for both of us.

So this is what the other side of Grand Canyon looks like...

It's a steep trail going down, then you have to return to the top...
Good think I had hubby along to help pull me back up to the top of the trail...
Love all the twisted trees here and there with such a majestic background
The colors were muted by haze but it is amazing and huge!

Outlook is amazing even with the haze...
It's heavily wooded driving to the rim but there have been several fires.
Lots of reforestation is taking place.

Artist's Date-QUILT SHOW

Besides shopping, talking, and eating, Caryn and i visited a local quilt show at the De Fiore center in St. George. Love the colors, artistry and wonderful skill involved in these quilts.

My favorite by quilt artist Wanda Bublik
Notice the details- beadwork and embroidry

Amazing the face is made up of beads.

Joint project of quilt blocks-so fun on a family camping theme.
