Starfish Story

"Once a man was walking along a beach. The sun was shining and it was a beautiful day. Off in the distance he could see a person going back and forth between the surf's edge and and the beach. Back and forth this person went. As the man approached he could see that there were hundreds of starfish stranded on the sand as the result of the natural action of the tide. The man was stuck by the the apparent futility of the task. There were far too many starfish. Many of them were sure to perish. As he approached the person continued the task of picking up starfish one by one and throwing them into the surf."

"As he came up to the person he said, 'You must be crazy. There are thousands of miles of beach covered with starfish. You can't possibly make a difference.' The person looked at the man. He then stooped down and pick up one more starfish and threw it back into the ocean. He turned back to the man and said, 'It sure made a difference to that one!'" THEME

My first word was HARMONY and I still have it on a shelf in my bedroom and by my bed FAITH on my side and DREAM on my hubby's side.

Then there is GENEALOGY in my office which is being ignored kind of though my writings do fit into that category.

ORDER is another word in my laundry room which is currently being ignored as it catches all the things I don't know where to put.

In thinking about what I want to accomplish this month, I decided to pick a one word theme to focus on. The word is CONNECT. Referring to making a connection with others in my life through teaching, conversing, writing, and blogging-reaching out to have relevance in the life of others, to help or serve them or just listen. Being an only child, I'm always longed to connect with family more. I got this idea from my friend Caryn who has wooden letters on a shelf in her home that spelled out SIMPLICITY to remind her of her goal for her life. Later she had SERENDIPITY now it's SERENITY. I'll let you know how it goes with my focus this month. If you had to pick a word to focus your life around, what would it be?
