Busy with GENEALOGY RESEARCH again...

I love jigsaw puzzles and family history research reminds me of that favorite hobby of mine. I also love history so it's a great combination as I'm learning much about native American life as I pursue my hubby's ancestry. There is so much online these days. Here's a chart and info from www.usgenweb.com and www.ncgenweb.us/cherokeereservation/ that gives the background of the Oklahoma territory and how the government tried to move all the Indian tribes from the east there to make room for more new American settlers. The Cherokees of Bertie County, North Carolina were given the choice to assimilate into the white culture or move to Indian territory. The families we are tracing are from NC and named Wm. Newton Bryant and David White families. They both came to Texas by way of IIlinois and Missouri for land and freedom from persecution of the US government.

  1. My parents always talked about their ancestry, passed down through generations, and my hubby and I have traveled to Germany to see where the family originated. We have friends who are very interested in tracking the generations back, but they were here in the States since the 1700s. I have never gotten interested in the research. Good for you.

  2. I never thought of jigsaw puzzles as an analogy for genealogy, but you're right. It's so true. How very interesting!
