Welcome JULY and the Plant World

It's a toss up yard by yard as to which plants, trees and shrubbs survived. Some had to be replaced and others are still struggling especially several trees after our strange winter freeze.

Our neighbor's tree is doing okay and blooming!
Red yucca plants survived and have bloomed already
An ash tree that is on its way out, struggling to grow.
These little palms bit the dust, no signs of life.
Across the street this small palm survived.
Can't kill these cholla plants, they are still there in their prickly glory.
These little palms show no life just dead fronds.
A live oak tree that isn't alive-should be green all year round.
Day Lilies died during winter then rise again to bloom during summer
This palmetto plant is growing back from its roots after freezing.

  1. Lin, so sad to see the plants in such bad shape! And interesting to see how they survive despite how Mother Nature treats them!

  2. You are wise to wait and see what makes it. but then the sad part, when you know the dead ones are gone and will have to be removed.

  3. so why do they die? is it age? or the heat? or have the weather/elements been different? sad.
