Well, I'm in Iceland and lost a day somewhere probably enroute. Originally I was suppose to fly from Las Vegas to Seattle then two hours later take off for the flight direct to Iceland; but when I got in Seattle there was a message on my cell phone from Iceland telling me our flight had been cancelled for some reason.
Later after a 2.5 hr wait in the Icelandairlines checkin booth I discovered our original plane had engine problems so I was rerouted to NYC on a redeye flight leaving Seattle about 10 pm and getting in NYC at 5:15 am the next morning. Then there was a little delay of 7 hours before our flight would leave for Iceland at 2 pm which makes for a very long day.
Finally saying goodbye to USA for awhile
This makes for two days with no teeth brushing, showers or much sleep which may sound like camping out, but isn't. Finally we were off and I took photos of the flight across the Atlantic up the coast of USA over Labrador and other strange places passing the tip of Greenland to arrive in Iceland about midnight.
Then after finding a cab it was time for the 40 min. ride to Rekjavik. The cab cost $125 or 14000 krona but our tour paid for that. Finally time to take a shower and collapse into bed. I'm getting too old for this kind of fun!
mom,I am glad you've made it . .. I have been doing this
ReplyDeletefor 30 years, back and forth to my country. it gets old after a while ..but the end result is priceless. ..and one must go over the pond for at least 3 weeks if not more. enjoy discovering many new things...xox
What great adventures you are having!! A trip wouldn't be any fun if you didn't experience a few unplanned activities! So happy for you that you are making another dream come true.

Glad to hear you are in Iceland and happy to have met you on the plane. I will totally keep up with your blog now. Can't wait to see the Greenland pics. I know that was a beautiful sunset and the orange juice just hit the spot.
