Letdowns

Trying to balance the expectations of any holiday
with the reality of what really happens, isn't easy.
Listening to inner voices and not reacting but acting,
is a challenge but can be done if you concentrate.

It's so easy to go through life always making
comparisons with the ideal vs. the reality we face.
I can choose to be happy and content with less
or miserable and depressed by my own greediness.

Maybe that's the difference between optimism
and pessimism. Is the glass half full or half empty?
When is enough enough? Patience is a needed virtue
and a little serendipity can change the whole scene.

  1. I can relate to your thoughts. I struggle through the holidays, and it isn't from wanting more than I have in terms of greed. It's more chasing away the blues about things that I cannot change, yet have trouble accepting...

  2. great thought...I always feel life becomes what you want it to be...I am always happy and I try to bring happiness to others...that is my main outlook of every day.

  3. First--great photos.

Second--bring on the serendipity. My family needs to import quantities of that. Your post has me thinking of my parents and their philosophy about supper. It was always ready by 5, and what wasn't on the table wasn't needed. The clock could be a merciful arbiter. I've made use of it around Christmas many a time (no pun intended).

  4. It's easy to feel the let down after a big event like christmas, not so much out of the lack of something, but because, after the big build up, some let down is expected and necessary. the trick is to use it to get busy and look forward to something else, even if it's just a clean house!
