Back Up, Back Up, Back Up

Well, my hubby's in CHARGE of the Sr. Games Archery and he has spent lots of hours organizing the shooters into groups and making score cards on his computer. THEN his computer crashed the other day, but LUCKILY he had BACKED UP all his data. So he was able to get his old computer out and set it up, then inserted his power stick or thumb drive with the backed up files and found them. I'm relieved that he had backed everything up daily because otherwise he would have been a very UNHAPPY CAMPER.

Which brings me to the topic today of BACKING UP our lives. Hmm, not just computer stuff? How about address books or wallet info like credit card numbers or those tricky things like passwords and user names or family photos that need names? Also I'm thinking about important stuff we have that we want to distribute to our families in case of our demise. Does anyone know or have we made a will saying what our desires are. There's a lot to consider in living our lives. Just even leaving a letter to our family and spouse telling them how much we love them. What do you need to BACKUP?

  1. Well, let's see. Will is done, and even renewed. Photos are labeled and many are backed up on discs. We have a back up service on our computer. The kids know what the family heirlooms are, but I could do a better job with a photo record. Son has been informed of location of insurance documents. We're sort of 'backed up', but there is always more one cound do.

  2. Excellent point, Lin. I think we're quite well "backed up" with wills, photos, documents, etc.

  3. When we sold our home in Texas and moved to Oregon I divided the family 'heirlooms' between our children so that's done. Legal papers are in order and together in one place. I'm sadly lacking when it comes to backing up the computer. Thanks for reminding me.

  6. My son bought me a memory drive last year for Christmas and it is the greatest little gift I've gotten. I have been storing all of my writings, my son's book and my vegan recipes in case I loose everything someday. I am glad your husband was able to find his saved files.
