Sunflower Dance

Fall sunflowers turn their faces upward
following the sun's path across the sky.
Then wait silently for a new day
and the rhythmic ritual dance to begin again.

How cheerful are their bright yellow pedals
accented by a deep brown center.
Bringing beauty as our weather quickly cools,
and we wait dreading the cold winter to come.
