Sweating

It's a new experience for little old me,
water dripping down my neck and back.
Oh, it's just sweat from exercising,
fast walks in the morning plus the 75 degree heat
at 6 AM as summer holds on tenaciously.

How often do we really push ourselves
enough to actually sweat? "Not often" is
my answer, but trying to walk quickly
with a friend has me perspiring profusely
compared to my slower drier walks alone.

Then there's life, how often do we really exert
ourselves and push our limits to do more,
be better, rise higher or try harder?
"Not often" is my answer. It's time to sweat more,
and learn to excel before I really expire.

  1. I worked out this morning too...but I started hyperventilating when my mind wandered to September 11th. Strange Mommy Cry!

  2. I rolled out my Nordic Track last night, planning to try it today, to see if it makes my heel hurt. That thing makes me sweat, for sure.
But yes, on a "real walk", I always sweat, as I do when working hard in the yard. Working in the classroom often had me sweating too, but more figurativly, trying to reach some tough kids.
Now I plan to only sweat when I choose to.

  3. Art is always telling me I need to sweat more in order to make my exercise worthwhile. I'm not one for liking to sweat which is not a good thing, I know.

  4. Lin;

I dragged out my bike this morning after I read your post. I'm back to tell you that I sure did sweat.
Felt good, and one of my goals is to push myself in all directions.

Thank you so much for your kind words of encouragement. I took all of your words to my heart and felt so safe.
