Getting acquainted with Corsicana, Texas where some of my husband's ancestors lived in the 1840s on was fascinating. Looking for their names in history books of the area was quite productive and we were able to extend his genealogy back another generation in North Carolina which is where they came from. Reading in the history books we discovered that his family immigrated together in the same wagon train from Bertie County, North Carolina to Corsicana, Texas via Illinois and Missouri. What brought them to Texas was free land to homestead on. More info on this family in future blogs to come...
What fun! Isn't it exciting to find things in the real world as opposed to the computer? Very exciting.
