Life on the Beach

By now we have been enjoying the Oregon coast by Waldport for several days.

Here's a poem I wrote. This one's been working on me since yesterday when I walked on the Oregon coast.

Watching the footprints on the sand
impressions of others' journeys
as they wandered here and there
taking in the beauty of God's handiwork.
Listening to the sound of waves
breaking on the soft sand
then retreating only to return again
the ebb and flow of life.

  2. Be sure to take a photo of your own footprints. The sensory awareness expressed in your poem comes from your being there!

  5. Lovely poem, Lin. When I first saw the Oregon coast, I was pulled in two directions: I'd always thought the Maine coast was as pretty as it gets, but here was the equally beautiful Oregon coast.

  7. I am glad this poem found your beautiful voice. So it is. Perhaps that is why so many of us go to the beach with feelings of reverence.
