Sprummer is here!

That's Spring in the desert
which lasts about two days
followed by summer temps.
It's 89 degrees now and time
for air conditioning and fans.

Here's some cactus blooms
and other emerging vegetation.
Green leaves are welcomed
after winter's gentle visitation.
Can autumn be far away?

  1. Oh, please say Autumn is a while away. We're still waiting for Spring's full glory. The hyatinth's, tulips, and daffodils are all in full bloom. The grass is tall... especially after the last two days of hard rain. My clematis are beginning to show the first signs of flowering, and the creeks are at their peak. But, the trees are barley beginning to bud. We also have a short spring season here at the Hollow. It seems that we go from winter to summer. Spring makes here debut and leaves us in a blink. I want a loooooong summer, a looooong Indian summer, then I will sit back and appreciate fall. (which is, by the way, my favorite time of the year)

I love your word, "sprummer". I'm gonna steal it. I will give you full credit when I use it....but, it's too good not to repeat.

  2. Roses already, in the desert. Beautiful! I love all of the little, ground hugging blooms that spring up, stay a short while, and then are gone.
Our climate is much different, of course, with a very long spring and autumn, and, some would say, a short summer. We have four distinct seasons, all of which are usually gentle. I suppose that's why we are such outdoorsy people here in the northwest. Our kids in Colorado experience Sprummer, except that it can switch back and forth daily through the months of April and May.
    Enjoy you little hybred season!

  3. Sprummer. That has bounce to it. Something I guess we all lose as the mercury rises. The plant life is really lovely.

  5. That last picture is so pretty! Wow...it's not nearly as hot in east Tennessee.

Almost all the trees here have leafed out...the Oaks still have a little ways to go. We have a nice climate here also...with four mild seasons. Though right now we're getting way too much rain.
