Tax Day

Oh no, it's that dreaded day,
when tax returns are due.
Will we get a refund or have to pay?
Only time will tell as hubby
sweats through the various lines,
adding deductions and exemptions,
No children at home, that's bad.
Over 65, that's good-more for us.

Every year it's the same process,
although now we can do it online.
Let the computer add it up,
no copies to make or envelopes
to mail in-just hit the send key,
and we are free for another year.

  1. It's only once a year, but it feels like more...

  2. And what a relief to have it done! We had to find a new accountant this year as my BIL is retiring!

  3. And we are WHAT was that you said for another year? Free? Odd... free is never a word I associate with tax time.... But, I do get your drift.

We actually got our refund a month or so ago. Or New Harmony home and a bleak real estate market the last part of 2008 saved us from owing the tax man. It's sad to dread success... but, I almost do.

  5. Very appropriate poem. I forgot that it was tax day today, we sent ours over the internet a while ago, so I decided to go to the PO to mail a package, big mistake, huge! Wow the line was very long(duh) but I stayed and mailed it at the automated machine anyway.

  6. My nephew turned 7 yesterday. He thought somehow we should pay taxes to him in honor of the event. Silly boy....
