Criticism of any kind...

Each morning as I read the newspaper, I wait for criticisms of our new president to appear. Why is it so much easier to criticize than compliment and support others? I'm not talking about just politics but everyday life. We focus on faults in others rather than look for something positive. Let me give you a CHALLENGE to find someone and something to COMPLIMENT today. It could be as close as your family or a complete stranger. Comment on the color of clothing they are wearing and how nice it looks on them or THANK a clerk for their efficient service or just SMILE at others. We need more of this in the world. Be KIND to yourself also-look in the mirror and tell yourself something you've done lately that was an accomplishment for you-even if it's only getting out of the bed and moving on with the day. YOU DID IT!!!

  1. Oh the criticisms are already on FOX news about President Obama. Rush Limbaugh was already blaming our economic problems on Obama calling it the 'Obama Recession'. But the wonderful thing about a democracy is that we can feel free to express our opinions without the worry of being arrested. Freedom of speech is so important. But I agree that the everyday kindness of people toward one another is lacking. ...Michelle..

  2. Good post! I think you're right about giving people little compliments. It means a lot to them and makes the world a kinder, happier place.

And it does bother me that some of the criticism of our new President is about little things...such as the fact that he took the oath a second time and it wasn't televised. Seems like a silly thing to get upset about.

  3. There will always be criticism. Critical analysis is a good thing. It's all about the purpose of the criticism delivered and the way in which it is delivered.

Of course, no one really enjoys being criticized. Everyone does love a compilment!

  6. I heard a critique of Michelle Obama's inauguration outfit being too long, too yellow, too much ribbon. This expert was saying it should have been 2 inches shorter. Hunh? She wants it above the knees? Please. Any idea how cold it was.

President Obama hasn't even finished a week for goodness sake. I wish they'd cut him some slack.

  7. I set out today to wlk around Huntington Beach and talk to as many strangers as I could. Cordell was at church... Wayne was riding a bike on the beach, and I set out to explore. As you know, I like to compliment strangers... so I did a lot of it today. The reactions I get from sales clerks, passers-by, police officers, street performers and whoever else crosses my path is always exciting to me. And I never cease to be amazed at how much information people will give to a total stranger that shows a little interest in their life. It's fascinating and warming.

As for the negatives about Pres. Obama... The criticism started almost immediately on President Bush this last term and it contributed greatly to a hellish four years. I've heard negative comments about his innauguaration speech and his financial positions from both sides of the aisle and on several radio stations. If it were jsut limited to Fox, I wouldn't be so concerned. I'd write it off to sour grapes. Even some members of his own party are starting to jockey for position by criticizing him. Good grief! It was a great speech. He's just new to the office. Give him a minute. Why do so many feel that they need to nit pick? And Michelle Obama looked lovely. The color and length of her dress are such ridiculous topics to open up for discussion.

Please...puhleeeze, hope with me that our society will just back off and see what the man is going to do with his presidency.
