Time Together

Had a leisurely lunch with my friend Caryn-
talking, laughing, enjoying the time,
building and exploring our deep friendship.
She says I build her up-help her self esteem
but I know that is her talent-natural skill.
So we explore our thoughts, analyze life,
time well spend, discussing the universe.
She doesn't order chocolate cake dessert
to enjoy in front of her diabetic friend-me!

Now I'm with family, looking for time to
read books, interact, listen to grand kids;
but there is too much electronics going on,
videos, tv shows to watch. Time slips by that
could have been spent communicating...
Patience, take what time that can be found,
try to make time and opportunities to just be
and unplug from the constant entertaining.
We will go to a birthday breakfast at IHOP
this morning, time to be with and celebrate family!

  1. How wonderful that you and Caryn were able to have that special time together. I miss having that since the friends I used to go out with are in Illinois. We've been rather tied up for me to start initiating things over here. I can see that Caryn is a very good friend from what I read in her blog. You're lucky to have each other. You are both very special.

  4. I could imagine that you and Caryn must have plenty to talk about - no lull in that conversation. You are lucky to have each other, two such caring people.

  7. Thank you for visiting my blog, hope you'll return again. It is wonderful to have friends that we can share with. I'm glad you had time today with your friend. I've only lived in Seattle for a little over a year and I do miss my friends in Portland.

  9. Yup!! That was a great lunch! I'm going to dedicate myself to getting together with you more often. It's just such a good time to sit with you and giggle, and explore, and solve societies ills. And I didn't miss the chocolate cake nearly as much as I miss you... Although that is pretty dang good chocolate cake.
