Blogging Class

Hey, I made ten new friends today after teaching a Creative Writing and Blogging class at my Community Center for our computer club. They were so enthusiastic and fun to teach. I hope some of them will make a comment here and leave the url address of their new blog so we can all visit and see their creative efforts. Nothing like teaching a class of "mature students" motivated to learn to make your day, though I did still take my afternoon nap to refresh myself.

What class have you taken lately or want to take to enrich your life?

  1. My but you're a busy lady. I came by earlier but didn't comment because I didn't have much time and I wanted to watch the video before commenting. Now, here I am. And, you've gone and made another post. If I could be so fast - and productive! Sounds like you had fun teaching the class today. Bet the students did too.

What was the majority, those who caught on quickly? Or those who needed lots of help?

  3. That's kinda the way I feel when teaching the AARP Safety Driving Class. Even though people are there to save $$ on their insurance and it's geared for 50+year old people, it is for people who want to be there. I think age and choice add up to a good experience.

  4. in answer to dellgirl, two students were advanced computer people so they could mostly do it on their own and caught on quickly, five needed some help but were excited about doing it, and two were onlookers who just watched and took notes-guess i had nine students. but no discipline problems like when i was teaching first graders....adults are motivated learners.

  5. Well... one class I'd like to take is your blogging class. And... I'd like to take a photography class!!! (AFTER I get my good camera from the repair shop) And I'd like to take a sculpting class. Those are two creative talents I'd like to develop!

I loved teaching motivational classes and being a "Life Coach" or sorts. I loved teaching classes on HIV/AIDS when I directed the program for the American Red Cross.
I love teaching young girls how to feel stonger in themselves. I love teaching, period! ... well, adults, or young adults, anyway. Children (between 6 and 12) scare the heck out of me... and I can't seem to figure out how to speak their language. I truly admire anyone who can teach classes on anything to members of that age bracket. ...So... hats off to those of you out there who dedicated many years to doing just that.

  6. It sounds like fun.

I'd like to take more Spanish classes and see if I can get back what the years have let me forget. I'd love to be good at Yoga, but I'm so inflexible I'm afraid I'd be awfully embarrassed in a class.

I'll have to think a bit more.
